Should I consider paying for an article?

What should I do if a website asks me to pay for an article?

Answer

Don't pay for an article yourself!

Often the library has the article available through our print or electronic resources. If we don't have access we can usually get a copy for you from another library, at no cost to you.

Follow the steps listed in this FAQ: How do I find a specific article?

That should lead you to the full text in print or electronic form if the library has access. If we don't have access, you should be offered the option to request a copy from another library. If you don't see a request option, the "Get It" button, you can place the request directly with InterLibrary Loan.

If you run into any problems, contact the library for help. Don't pay for that article--we can probably get it at no cost to you!
