Q. What do I do if the library doesn't have the book I need?

Interlibrary loan services (CSU+ and ILLiad) have resumed as of August 3, 2020 on a limited basis. Please allow at least 10-12 business days for CSU+ requests during COVID-19 due to limited staffing and the need to quarantine books for 72 hours prior to pick up. Due to the extended turn around time to receive items, the loan period for all CSU+ items is 16 weeks.

If the library doesn't have a book you want, or if it's checked out or states "Library Use Only," you can often get a copy through CSU+

CSU+ is:

  • free for Fresno State students, faculty, and staff.
  • quick. Items arrive in 2-4 business days (10-12 business days due to limited services as a result of COVID-19)
  • convenient.  You request your items online, and we notify you by email when they are ready for pickup.
  • extensive.  Books from all 23 CSU libraries are available in CSU+ (some CSU libraries may have limited participation due to COVID-19)

To search CSU+, start at the Library Homepage, enter your search terms, and click the link for CSU+ Books and Media.

Within your results, items from other libraries will display "Unavailable at Fresno State. See Request Options" as the item status. Click that link.

In order to request an item through CSU+, it needs to be available at another library.  Click the "See availability at other CSU Libraries" to check availbility. If the item is available, you can use the link to request from CSU+.   You must be signed in for the link to appear.

If your your book is unavailable through CSU+, you can try requesting it through interlibrary loan. If you have any questions, please email interlibraryloan@csufresno.edu
