How do I find an "original research article" for my Food Science class?

Answer

An "original research article" is a form of Primary Literature, that is, the first publication of scientific research.

To find original research articles, search the database Science Direct, which is available from the Food Science Databases page.  This product happens to have a large number of food science related articles and happens to have obvious labels on their original research articles.

After you start up Science Direct, click on "Advanced Search" on the right side of  the screen.

Look carefully at the results list: Original Research Articles will have that notation on them. Screeshot from Science Direct search results list showing "Original Research Article" notations

Note: If you are required to get more than a few of these types of articles, you may have to understand the concept (scroll back to the top of this answer) and look at a lot more databases.
